The causeway linking Lindisfarne (Holy Island) to the mainland opposite, across Beal Sands in Northumberland. The road floods twice a day, cutting off access for as much as five hours. The photographer notes that the high tide was a relatively low one, so perhaps it was in a period of ‘neap’ tides, when high tides are not quite so high and low tides not quite so low.
