About this picture …

A view of Cyfrwy arête, on the north side of Cader Idris, from the Fox’s Path beside Llyn Y Gader. The lake is thought to reach a depth of some 43ft. Cardigan Bay lies in the distance. In this case, the word arête is a climbing term for a narrow ridge of rock. Arete is also Greek for ‘virtue.’
