This section of Comfortable Words is dedicated to materials that do not come from the King James Bible, but are written in a similar kind of Church English. Many are taken from the Book of Common Prayer, first published in 1549. The collection includes hymns by great English masters such as Charles Wesley and Isaac Watts, alternative translations of the Psalms, prayers from the Anglo-Saxon saints, and translations from the Eastern liturgies.
