Jack Cade’s Revolt
On July 4th, 1450, Jack Cade, an ordinary Kentish man, brought five thousand rebels to London demanding an end to the Hundred Years’ War and to corruption at court. However, Cade’s rebels ran amok, so Henry VI withdrew a promise of amnesty and Cade was killed. Nonetheless, his petition was revived by the Yorkists in the Wars of the Roses.
