A True Gentleman of Verona

A family in the Italian city of Verona were once in peril of their lives, when the river flooded and threatened to wash them and their house away. They were rescued by a young peasant, who immediately gave his handsome reward to them too. Samuel Smiles observed being a true gentleman is a matter of character, not of social standing.
