A Collect for Aid Against All Perils

The third of three short prayers from the close of Evensong in the Book of Common Prayer.

Introduction

This Collect was appointed as the third of three prayers at the end of Evensong in the Book of Common Prayer of 1549.

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night: for the love of thy only Son, our Saviour, Jesu Christ. Amen.
