Introduction

This page shows short passages from the Authorised Version of the Bible, with a new passage showing each day. They are intended for practice in reading aloud.

In keeping with the rest of Clay Lane, Christian feasts are kept according to the Julian ‘Old Style’ calendar used in England until 1752, and still used by millions of Orthodox Christians worldwide. A few days (such as Christmas and Easter) are marked on the modern Gregorian calendar as well. For more, see About Our Calendars.

The Second Day

Genesis 1:6-8

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
